This jumbo-scale ceramic sculpture depicts the subject known as the Merry Wanderer, based on the original designs of Maria Innocentia Hummel. The figure is modeled as a young boy in mid-stride wearing traditional Alpine-style clothing, including a wide-brimmed black hat, a green jacket with a flared hem, an orange-toned vest with dark buttons, and orange trousers. The boy carries a red umbrella over his right shoulder and a large, textured traveler's bag in his left hand. The ceramic features a hand-painted matte finish with heavy, textured modeling on the accessories to simulate the appearance of carved wood. The upper surface of the integral base features an incised signature reading m. J. Hummel.
